In food courts dominated with the standard fare of burgers, sandwiches, sushi, pizza and the like, we wanted to be different. 

Meat Mi Here is a literal play on words in both English and Chinese. In English, it evokes a feeling of connection with friends and co-workers as in Meet Me Here, but “Mi” in Chinese translates to Rice which becomes Meat Rice Here which are the main menu items that we serve.

Currently, Asian BBQ meats are only available in Asian grocery stores or various smaller shops scattered throughout many of Calgary’s ethnically diverse neighbourhoods. Meat Mi Here is the only mainstream location that introduces a classic food staple of the Cantonese Chinese culture to a wider audience.

For this venture, my family’s generational recipes have been tweaked and adjusted, but every bite still brings back strong childhood memories and pays respect to the traditional taste which would make my parents proud.

We are a small mom-and-pop shop that prides itself on food quality and value for your money.  Our meats are locally sourced and cooked in partnership with a small commissary kitchen. This allows us to control every step of the cooking process to ensure our high standards are met and we can proudly serve our final product to our customers.
